For our Fall 2019 features we have poet Ataisha Atkinson, poet Tiquan (Tre) Ewell, photographer Paripada Rungseenapakorn, and artist Justin Yu. These up-and-coming Baruch creatives have an eye for craft and clarity in their work for anyone who interacts with it.

PURSUIT

There is no America without immigrants — “Pursuit” discusses the struggles immigrants face everyday despite being the cornerstone of America. It is a collection of different dreams and aspirations of immigrants demonstrating what exactly lies in the heart of America, reminding us all of the forgotten and broken American Dream.

Encounters Magazine is proud to have finally unveiled its Spring 2019 print edition on May 16, 2019. The 116-page publication features the artistic and literary talent at Baruch College, with a unique focus on three paramount creators for the semester.


BEING
BEING

“Being” is Encounters Magazine’s third ever zine, opening up the uncomfortable conversations on mental health to our audience. The publication consists of interviews with experts and people who have experienced mental illnesses, as they provide an insight to their state of being. By sharing personal and professional knowledge as well as a diverse compilation of NYC-based references, this zine encourages our audience to reach out for help whenever they need it and informs those not suffering from mental illnesses on how to support those around them and be more sensitive.

ROYALTY
ROYALTY

“Royalty” is Encounters Magazine’s second limited-print zine, focused tightly on what it means to be black today. Content within the zine includes interviews, editorials, visuals and poetry, primarily created by black students and focused on creators around New York City. Featured interviewees include: Bridgett Davis, founder of Encounters Magazine; current social media editor of Paper Magazine Peyton Dix; photographer Alan-Michael Duval; designer Dynasty George and more!

MEET KYRAH BROWN
MEET KYRAH BROWN

Kyrah Brown is an instantly warm, kind person. She’s a senior studying political science and economics at Baruch, but as a creative writer spends a lot of her free time creating characters and stories via long, personal poems.

SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS

Encounters Magazine is proud to release its first limited-print mini publication entitled “Sexual Encounters!” The zine is branded as a creative sexual health manual and is intended to be produced for an LGBT-inclusive audience.
